with coins.
off we went to
church
on Easter morning,
the cellophane baskets
of pink
and yellow,
full of chocolate rabbits
and jelly
beans would have to wait.
would the mass
ever end?
our knees ached.
our hands pressed together,
sweating.
then finally the priest
would parade
by, so slowly,
and we'd scurry out
the side door,
running all the way home.
