my vacation home

when i need a break

from the maddening crowd,

i split my time

between my vacation home

and my

regular home.

i go down to the basement

bringing with me

a small tray of food 

and drinks.

sometimes i put on a pair

of bermuda shorts

and a flowery

shirt,

sandals and a pith helmet.

it's nice to get away

from the bustling

crowds,

the traffic,

the hubub of upstairs.
