we were not on
the same page,
or even in the same book,
in fact
we weren't even
on the same shelf
in the same library.

were
in crayon. primary colors.
whereas
I wrote in black in white.
a pencil
sharpened to a point,
with an eraser,
to write and rewrite
long into the night.
