blood out of a turnip

we used to fight over money.

I made it.
she spent it.

I saved it, she spent it.

I invested it.
she spent it.

we weren't on the same page
with
money.

I cut her credit cards in
half.

she got more.

I got a second job,
worked the night shift.

I grew vegetables
and drove a beat up old car.

I had holes in my shoes
while she wore
jimmy choos.

she ran up the bills, I
paid them

in full.
and in the end

she told her lawyer she
still wanted more.

squeeze him dry she said.
get all the blood you can

out of that turnip.
