most
illnesses are. we don't hear
them
coming up
the steps,
they don't call, they don't
knock at the door.
there's no
notice in the mail.
it's a visit
you're never prepared for.
but here they
are, with their heavy luggage,
anticipating
a long stay, moving into
your life
for weeks, or months,
maybe more.
