the bagel store under new management

under new management?

i wonder

as i take a bite

of the oversized bagel

with cream cheese.

it's a loaf

of mushy bread now.

still circular

with the hole in the middle,

but a bakery

pillow of some kind.

and the cream cheese

is too silky

and wet.

the butter on yours

could be margarine,

a sticky drippy mess.

the sesame seeds are

falling off

like dandruff on a used

car salesman.

and the coffee.

how can it be cold and

bitter

before we leave

the store?

we have to get back to

New York soon.

the sooner the better.

the train will be faster,

let's go,
