to stay away
from the graveyards
with their wide
iron gates
and flowered lawns.
i pass by
despite
friends
and parents
resting there.
the mound of dirt
now grassed over,
the stone
engraved
doesn't do it for me.
i prefer
instead to hold on
tightly
to memories whether
right or wrong.
