i don't own a farm.
the weather would drive me crazy.
a short drive,
i know, but still.
i'd be
worried about the crops.
are they getting enough rain,
too much rain.
is it too hot,
too cold. i'd be
looking out the window
in the morning
to see how the corn did.
the alfalfa
the soybeans.
i'd look down
the field
to see if any cows got loose
and are running up
the road.
i wouldn't like watching
my step all the time,
what with
all the chickens running
around the yard,
the goats, the pigs.
the dogs.
and that damn fence on
the lower forty,
always in need of repair.
always falling down.
