leaving the door open

I leave the door open.

no need to lock
it anymore. the windows
are unlatched.

there's no one I want
to keep
out,
or i'm afraid of.

let the light in,
the cats
and dogs,
the neighbors too.

friends and foe.
let them gather around
the table
and drop their swords.

no alarms, no barbed wire.
no security camera,
no guard
at the gate.

i'm dreaming of course.
it's way way
too late
for such a peaceful
world.
