the old friend drawer

there is the big drawer

in the kitchen

full of useful,

but rarely used things,

rubber bands

and nails,

screws and strands

of cut string.

there's glue of course,

and matches,

small tools for glasses,

a compass,

a watch,

a ring.

a few old friends are

tucked away inside,

as well.
