mostly older men, retired,
like
to get up early, have
their eggs
and bacon,
their coffee, read the paper
and then
wander
over to the construction
site down
the street.
they like to point and watch
as the girders
go up,
commenting on
the brick and mortar,
the cranes
swinging
back and forth.
you see them lined up
at the fence
in their
yellow sweaters
and hats, some with canes,
their dogs
on leashes.
no wives of course.
