moving
so close to the zoo.
we had no idea how loud
the monkeys were,
as they swing
from tree to tree,
the chatter of birds,
the elephants
stomping around,
even
the seals kept us up
with their
constant
clapping for fish.
but you get used to it
after a while,
hesitating
in mid sentence, raising
your hand to pause,
to let a lion roar,
or a gorilla beat
his chest
and yell, or
to allow
some exotic bird to caw.
