i understand.
who doesn't want to
erase
the past,
eradicate mistakes,
pretend that what
went down
never happened.
who doesn't want to
rewrite history.
tear down
the statues, rip out
the books
page by page,
and burn
the photos of
what
once seemed
like happy days.
i do that often with
my
fireplace.
