your horse looks
tired. i saw her roll
her eyes at my
horse. she thinks
you're too heavy
in the saddle, that
you ride her
too hard, you're
too strong with
the whip, too
frugal with the oats,
the sugar cubes.
maybe you should
ease up on her,
give her some room,
some love, wash her
down and whisper into
her ear that you
love her. take
the saddle off and
let her roam the open
field where the fresh
grass is green
and high.
