a day
left on earth,
twenty-four hours
before they
pulled the switch on
old smokey,
the electric chair.
how would you spend
it if they
let you leave jail.
what would you eat?
where would you go
and with who.
would Betty be involved,
perhaps
the Rockettes
if you could get a hold
of them.
would your last meal
be fried chicken,
or tofu.
desserts?
maybe a giant rib eye
steak
with mashed potatoes
and green beans.
would you go for a bike ride
around the lake,
read,
maybe take a nap
at three.
watch a little tv?
perhaps all of the above,
and as usual write a bunch
of silly poetry?
