why
someone is unpleasant.
and angry.
we don't know
what happened
in childhood,
or on the way to work.
we don't know
what puddles
they've stepped into.
what calamity
has occurred to make
them rude and mean,
unsociable
and crotchety
to the world at large,
and even to me.
