the flea market

in tidy rows
they line the shelves,
the floors and tables with
their
dusty gold.
the vases and jars,
the unworn
rings and broches,
the dresses
and shoes, all thin
bare,
unwanted, but used.
magazines with Kennedy
and Nixon
on the cover,
the moon men,
natalie wood,
or john wayne.
the yo yo's.
the empty coke bottles.
a tin
from an Esso station
saying stop here.
one man's treasure
is another
man's
trash, not thrown
away, but kept and sold
to the lowest
bidder who has a place
somewhere in
his already crowded
basement or
room.
