mistaking the purr

three cats arrive in the mail.
kittens
actually.
each with blue eyes
and striped
tails.
they seem thirsty
after their long trip
so I give them a saucer
of milk.
they wet their lips
with it,
the fur
going white around their
mouths.
I don't know what i'll do
with them.
I mistake their purr for love.
three cats.
I know so little about
cats,
or any feline for that matter.
