ticking quietly

or at least you
think you do.
how things work
or why
they don't, but
the human mind
is more difficult
to deal with.
the nuts and bolts
the springs
and wheels
of it all are
maddening
sometimes and
yet magnificient
at others, like
now, with
you beside me,
asleep, ticking
quietly away
in a dream.
