she sends a photo
of her
daughter's unborn
baby still
snug in the womb.
but you can see it's
face.
it's closed
eyes and pug nose.
the comma
curve of it's
body, arms and
soft boned
legs balled
tight.
it's gooey
and eerie on
many levels, but
you say something
like, oh my,
how cute. you sort
of miss
the old days
when someone took
a picture
after they'd been
scrubbed clean
and wrapped in a
pink or blue blanket
with their
thin black hair
combed neatly
to the side.
