the lost button

i lost a button
on my shirt
the other day.
my favorite blue
dress shirt.
a single pearl white
button in the
middle disappeared
without a trace,
i never even heard
it hit the floor,
if it did. but
i could feel
the breeze find
a way in, against
my skin. the cold
air making me
realize how easy
and quickly, and
without notice things
can fall apart, not
unlike what has
happened between
me and you.
