the newspaper

in hand
you can't
imagine it
not being
in hand.
with a cup
of coffee
in the early
morning.
the print
fresh, the news
slightly
old, but still
news, and
the writers
for the most
part are skilled
and happy
to be writing,
to tell you
what has gone
wrong, or gone
right
with the world.
but the paper
thins, the
columns grow
short, the
choices are
fixed and
the well paid
writers have
gone on to radio,
to television,
to pasture.
