a swarm of hot
bees were abuzz
at my foot as i
stepped into
the thick ivy
on a shaded hill
with nowhere to
run to without
feeling the fury
of their stings,
just one apiece,
but enough welts
to make me woozy
and stumble
away into the sun
where they lost
interest and
returned to the
grey wafered bun
they lived in.
and when i came
to with an IV
in my arm, and
a nurse hovering
over me, who reminded
me of two sweet
scoops of vanilla
cream, i felt as
rested and as
relaxed as i've
ever been in my
entire life.
