before dark

before dark, before
the night closes in,
i need to get some
things done. a few
things i've been meaning
to do for a long time.
it's not a long list,
but it's a list just
the same, one that i've
been carrying around
in my head for decades.
alot got in the way,
a marriage, a kid, work,
all lame excuses, but
excuses still. but the
sun is going down. i can
feel the chill in my
bones and it's time,
it's time to just play
my hand and let it all
ride. to take the leap.
