a world gone mad

they had somehow
managed to make
a horse the size of a
small dog, genetics
and money, donations,
grants and foundations,
all involved in the
breeding, fooling
around with test tubes,
the biology of it
all, just because
they could. and the horse,
was tiny, the smallest
horse that had ever
lived. the years
that it took, the
science and intelligence
to make something
so unnatural, freakish,
was astonishing, and
as the news cameras
rolled you could see
the homeless men and women
who lived in the park
on their carboard beds
and straw, beneath
the willow trees where
they had brought the
horse to run, staring
in wide eyed wonder too.

Well said. I agree. How and when did our priorities get so far off track? When did we become inured to other people's suffering? Don't get me started.
