years,

childhood

or high school.

they peaked.

they were king and queen

of the prom.

whatever they were

meant to achieve

had been done,

and it's downhill from there.

while others,

like you, or me,

we're still waiting,

still climbing 

the mountain,

still crawling upwards,

apparently,

we're not done.
