and rips
and tears
at the ancient wallpaper.
it could
be fish scales
we're removing here,
or planks of wood,
needing
to be chopped, or soaked,
muscled
into submission.
fragile as the dead
sea scrolls,
or stone
like slabs
in the hands of Moses.
