or say
hello to people on
the nature trail.
you try to read them
to see who needs
a friendly greeting.
some do the same for you.
they look you in the eyes
and say hey, or good morning
and pass by.
while others are in the stars,
eyes to the ground.
surrounded by others,
their phone, their music,
their walls of sound.
it's mostly the old, or the
very young
who want or give the wave,
the courtesy of nodding,
tipping their hats
and saying, have a nice day.
