I get a dog to take my mind
off of things.
I need a distraction.
something fun
some thing, some living
thing
that wants me,
adores me, can't wait
for me to come home.
but this dog isn't like
that.
she's aloof and cold.
she keeps running back
to her other owner, she
won't fetch the paper,
and leaves
a mess when i'm not around.
I start thinking about
a cat, or maybe a bird.
or maybe i'll just take a
walk in the cold
be happy that way.
