not guilty

finally free.
at last. it was a hard dig
out.
a simple spoon,
a bucket
and the dirt flew.
ounce by ounce.
under the walls, the barbed
fence, the tunnel
was made.
the other side was found.
imprisoned against
my own
will.
not guilty
of any crime.
how sweet to tear away
these grey
rags upon me.
to cut the shackles
from my feet, my hands,
to shower in the rain,
to be cleansed
and free
to start a new life,
again.
