stay home

I used to ask her, plead
with her to take
a vacation, to go somewhere.
have fun and see the world.
perhaps the eastern shore,
or further north, or south,
anywhere, but here.
but she said no.
I have my home, my garden.
my friends, my children,
my dog.
I know what's out there
and have no desire to see
anymore and go.
it took some time, but
I understand it now.
