bird brains

about the direction
of their short
nervous lives.
no, it's pretty
much acorns
all day long.
find them,
break them open
and stuff them
into your
mouth
to eat or bury
elsewhere
for later.
you envy them, as
you sit here pondering
what shirt to
wear, their
days so certain
and natural.
