you fear small children
in the pool.
that far away look
in their eyes
as the cold water
envelops them.
how still they are,
with their water
wings holding
them upright,
full of soda
and milk,
water and sweet
tea. as soon as
you jump in to
swim, and you see
them bobbing around,
there is only
one thing to do,
and that is flee.
