cats in space

i read
somewhere,
perhaps in
the dwindling
thread bare
pages of the post
that more money
is spent on
cat food in
this country
than on the space
program. it's
hard to come
to terms with
that, or understand
quite what
it means, but
maybe,
we should
combine the two.
send cats up
into orbit. why
only dogs,
and chimps
and people, throw
in a mouse
or two as well,
let's keep
the program going.
