the same old song again

once

the sound came into

our ears

from a transistor radio

of music we liked, we ran

to the store

with money.

we started with

vinyl

records.

a stack of wax.

long play,

and forty-fives.

then came the bulky eight

tracks, like

thick books.

then cassettes, smaller

versions,

then cd's, those silver

discs

that stack neatly in a

drawer,

and at last came Spotify,

and you tube,

sirius xm, apple play,

i tunes,

amazon music

pandora and all the rest.

i've duplicated 

the same songs

and artists

in each and every venue

for decades.

what possible thing

can they take our

money with

next?
