the hearts may be warm,
the feet
are cold,
you see the young people
on the steps
of the courthouse,
papers in hand,
a witness in tow.
a ring for each
in a felt box.
they say little, but
smile,
and give each other
kisses,
small pecks on
the lips or cheeks,
another world
awaits them as they think,
should we stay,
should we go.
