when the stream dries

when the stream
dries
in the drought of summer,
the trees
tired
from lack of rain.
holding
dearly onto the memory
of green,
we will walk
across the rocks
to the other side, hand
in hand.
unwet,
unbothered by the rush
of water.
but all things
in their own time
will circle,
come back again.
