poetry puzzle

poetry ends
in english class, perhaps
in the tenth grade.
robert frost.
whitman.
that's enough to send
you to an early grave.
shakespeare.
yeats and poe.
tennyson.
oh my.
it's a struggle to ever
pick up
a book again.
breaking it down word
by word.
line after line.
what does that mean?
what the hell are they
talking about
this time.
even the new yorker
struggles
with
the puzzling, unreachable
words.
mythology.
academia.
it's the worst.
