an elder
what they would have done more
in their life
as they near the end
and they respond with the word
work.
i wished i would have worked
harder and longer.
i wished i would
have been at my desk more,
on my computer
at night before going to sleep.
i wish i would have
given more of me to my job,
to my company,
to my boss. i wish i'd not
taken so many days off,
when i could have come in
and made more money for them.
i regret not selling my soul
earlier in life, until the end.
