the cheap door

the wood
is warped by rain.
the door won't close.
the knob
won't turn.
the hinges run
with rust.
it's hardly old,
barely new.
so soon to start
once more,
to build another
door for which
to enter.
the carpenter
has cashed his check,
and run
away.
