baked love

it's a fine
balance
of ingredients that makes
the cake
rise,
the soufflé
go,
the dessert be
sweet but
not too so
that one cannot
finish
or eat. love is
that mix
of tried and true
recipes,
old
worn and torn pages
in yesterdays book.
but in all things
it comes down
to the lick
of a spoon,
the taste of it
to know when it's done,
when it's
ready, or needs to be
tossed away,
and started again, taken
out too soon.
