I was trying
to figure out which self help
book to read
on this cold day
in January
as I sit on the long dark
couch and take
my emotional temperature.
should we go with
grief,
or regret, or am I blue
because of the weather?
perhaps the miracle book
would be helpful
in this current state of mind.
or the one
that says i'm okay you're okay,
let's just live and let live,
then forget.
I toss a coin
jung or freud,
nouwen or manning.

maybe a long sweet nap
would be best.
