the room
is too hot.
the windows
won't budge.
there is no air
coming from
the vents.
it's crowded.
we are shoulder
to shoulder.
leg against leg
in these hard backed
chairs.
your shoes sweat.
your brow.
you wipe your
eyes.
it's hot in here.
why doesn't
someone
open a window
a door.
the magazines
are old.
the smell of the
rug.
the dead plant
in the corner.
mold.
the light overhead
flickers.
you are waiting.
you don't know
what for.
not yet.
but it's hot in here.
you loosen your
collar.
you wait for
your name to be
called.
