down the road

I've been down this
road before,
so don't worry
about me.
in fact I've improved
this road,
widened it,
leveled it off
and took the divots
out. I put guard rails
up and signs
telling you were
the curves are,
where the road
veers off. i've
installed lights.
you see that water
fountain over there?
I put that in.
those benches
where you can sit
and enjoy the sunset,
those too
are my idea.
so don't worry about
me going down
this road again,
I could walk it
blindfolded, in my
sleep. alone, that's
the best way to go
down this road.
