a new frying pan

your new frying
pan
is a wonderful thing.
it has a shiny
blue bottom, so
hip and clean.
not a single
egg
has been cracked upon
it's non stick
surface. it's eco
friendly you tell
your dog who shakes
his head
at his dish of
dried food.
it took an hour
of research
and shopping
to find the one
that wasn't going
to poison you.
you take a picture
of it. you hold it
up to the light.
you give it
a kiss and gently
set it on
the counter
along with it's
new friend
a blue rubber
spatula before
turning off
the light and saying
goodnight.
maybe tomorrow you'll
give it a test run.
