on the phone.

buttons.
at dinner
with friends,
in the bathroom.
driving.
walking,
drinking.
the phone is
the most interesting
thing in
their lives.
how it glows.
how it makes
noise. how it
sparkles
in the light.
it is what
the plastic mobile is
to an infant,
hanging over
the crib, an
endless source
of meaningless
delight.
