people are always
trying to trip you up
by asking
trick questions
like
how are you,
how's work,
what have you been
up to lately.
what's new, are
you still dating
so and so.
but you don't break
under pressure
easily. you are
made of steel
and they can't get
through. you don't
surrender personal
information
at the drop
of a hat. who do
they think they are
delving into me.
you shrug instead
and say, something like,
it's all good.
same old, or something
to that effect,
this makes them stop
and go away.
once again you
haven't buckled
under their prying
pressure, trying to
get into your
most secret self.
