pretending to eat pasta

i order a vegetable splicer

so that i can

spiralize

zucchini

to make it look like

pasta noodles.

there was a time

when  i could

eat a boiled box

of penne noodles

with red sauce

and a handful of meatballs

in one sitting.

not to mention the bread

and butter.

but it's come to this now.

twisting the handle on a

new gizmo

to make strands of a strange

vegetable that

i've almost never eaten.

i used to be Italian.
