we love to work.
we tell people how hard
we're working, the hours we've
put it in.
we say that we haven't had a real
vacation in years.
excuse me while I take this call.
okay. where were we?
we talk about how
early we get up in the morning.
how late we arrive home.
even the weekends keep us busy,
keep us going.
work is with us every hour
of the day and night.
on our phones our screens.
hold on while I answer this text.
okay.
we who shake our heads at how
hard a farmer works,
bent over in a field,
coal miners and factory workers,
how we flinched at their lives
while we do nothing but plow,
seed and harvest, forever more.
