asking too much

tried to sell her wedding
dress
in the community newsletter.
why not.
it cost so much
and it was practically new.
sealed away,
as clean as the day it was worn.
white and frilly
with lace.
a small cake of fabric
that she wore
so well, so long ago.
she enclosed a photo
of the dress.
hanging on the side
of a door.
she was throwing in the shoes
too, also white,
low heels,
with some sparkle.
whether she sold it or not,
you never knew.
but it seemed she was asking
way too much,
something she was often
prone to do with you.
